Annotated Bibliography for Thursday March 29

1. How did the teacher use technology in this lesson/approach? Details – time, activities, products, etc.
The teacher had her 8th grade class discuss the novel they were reading through VoiceThread. The teacher set it up so that students could post video or text about what they read. Then when they had finished reading and discussing the novel they were able to view the VoiceThread that they made on the Smart Board in their classroom. A new project that the teacher is going to use next year, involves the students to watch a podcast about poetry and then create a VoiceThread to discuss it.
2. How did the students use technology? Details – time, activities, products, etc.
The students used VoiceThread as a way to answer their reading questions and start discussions about the novel that they read in class. The students had the option to record themselves either just audio or with a video camera, or they could post text that they had written in response to reading questions and discussion prompts.
3. How were students assessed? How were students’ content knowledge, skills, and/or technology skills evaluated?
The students were assessed based on what their answers were in response to the reading questions.
4. How were students provided feedback, remediation, and scaffolding?
The students were provided feedback by the fact that they were able to view the entire VoiceThread in class, but also during the time they were making the VoiceThread by their peers. The teacher also got feedback from the students for this projects based on how excited they were to use VoiceThread and then the fact that they wanted VoiceThread to be an option for the rest of their assignments.
